At least 7 civilians are dead and 12 others injured, still provisional assessment of an altercation between civilians and the FARDC armed forces in coalition with the elements of the ICCN and the naval force in the lake village of Kyavinyonge in the territory of Beni in North Kivu.
Everything left around 17:45 on the evening of Saturday, April 08, 2023, where some young people who are building a veranda on the border between the territory of Beni and that of Lubero, for four days have been considered as a negative movement.
After being alerted, the three mentioned armed forces left on the ground to acquire the situation, upon their arrival, the population began to protest against their presence.
Suddenly, the army opened the bullets on this population to demonstrate its anger, 6 civilians fell immediately, among others women who had returned from the field, children and young men, and 13 wounded who were dispatched to a health structure in the square, including the morning of this Sunday, April 09, one of these wounded succumbed to these injuries.
“They are the ones who died; the little children who are looking for pastures, the women who came back from the fields, we are very sorry, we wonder about the causes, while those who were doing besides are not among those who are building the road veranda,” emphasizes one of the habitants of this lake village.
This disagreement will have harmed the civil marriage between loyal army and civilian in that region.
